![]() Like with Crimes and Punishments, I wish Watson were a more integral part of the game. I really like Watson in this game, he's so done with Sherlock's bullshit but he's also a supportive roommate and colleague. ![]() I guess Sherlock never makes mistakes, which, you know, fair but it doesn't make for the smoothest gameplay experience. I do prefer QTEs over cutscenes because they make you feel like part of the action, but even better would have been if the game had animations for if you missed one or two prompts, if they had allowed you to finish a sequence imperfectly. (The very first one was so exciting!) QTEs are not a very inspired mechanic and if you miss one prompt you'll have to redo the whole sequence, thus taking you out of the action. There's also a bunch of racism throughout the game, which again, Sherlock is no stranger to (nor Frogwares, for that matter - I'm having flashbacks to the orientalism in "Crimes and Punishments"), but we can do better, can't we? Can we? I enjoyed the chase sequences throughout the game, at least, the ones I was able to do first try. Another thing I didn't like was the ableism, especially in the last case Conan Doyle's Sherlock has always had cases of ableism, but I found it especially jarring here in the last case because it spins an original yarn. Like the mazes near the end of case 2, "A Study in Green" (uninspired chapter title is bad) - really happy that you can skip stuff without consequence, because I did not want to spend ages re-doing those mazes over and over again. are not ideal either - Holmes' appearance can be changed, but always returns to the standard after the cases or after various cutscenes, which I found a bit annoying - many quick time events (didn't really bother me, but you can certainly see it critically)ħ0% PCI like this game but at the same time there are parts I really didn't enjoy. unfortunately the weighing of evidence and conclusions are sometimes somewhat arbitrary, so you then come up with different suspects/culprits - Clearer structure in solving the cases would be desirable - The main character is not controlled optimally, shaky/spongy - very long loading times (Xbox One) - Graphically solid, although some faces look a little strangely zombie-like (including Katelyn), and some shadows etc. Per case between 1-5 hours (5 cases), case 2 is the most extensive - some puzzles quite appealing - Atmosphere and soundscape succeeded - German voice output good with a few exceptions - Cases are designed quite exciting. Most of it is kept rather rudimentary - Detailed inventory with notes/hints/personal analysis etc. Positive - Gameplay is varied: various action scenes with chases, escapes, sneak passages, balancing, bowl tournament (albeit with somewhat suboptimal physics), combine evidence, control of various characters (not just Holmes), blood analysis, etc. Certainly not a masterpiece in its field, but it was still fun. 70% Xbox OneMy first game in this Mystery Adventure series by Frogwares.
